2.3 Temperature and Temperature Difference
This
section addresses both the measurement of ambient air temperature at a
single level and the measurement of the
temperature difference between two levels. The ambient temperature is used
in determining the amount of rise experienced by a buoyant plume.
The
vertical temperature difference is used in calculating plume rise under
stable atmospheric conditions, and is also used in determining Monin-Obukhov
length, a stability parameter (Section 6.4.5).
