2.3.3 Temperature Difference
The basic sensor requirements for measuring vertical temperature difference are essentially the same as for a simple ambient
temperature measurement. However, matched sensors and careful calibration
are required to achieve the desired accuracy of measurement. The ambient
temperature measurement is often taken from one of the sensors used to
measure the differential temperature. A number of systems are commercially
available that utilize a special translator module to process the signal
difference between the two component sensors. Through signal processing, the
accuracy of the differential temperature can be calibrated to the level of
resolution of the component systems.
