8.2.5 Precipitation
The
receiving inspection for a precipitation gauge is straightforward. With the
sensor connected to the system, check its response to water (or equivalent
weight for weighing gauges) being introduced into the collector. For tipping
bucket types, be sure that the rate is less than the equivalent of one inch
(25mm) per hour if the accuracy check is being recorded. See the section on
calibration (8.3) for further guidance.
